Nicole Sharp's bio
Nicole Sharp is a disabled queer Latina trans feminist author and continuing-education student in the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland (USA). She received her Baccalaureate of Science (BSc) degree (ISCED 646) with Honors in Physics (Sigma Pi Sigma) and Mathematics (Kappa Mu Epsilon) in 2013 from Frostburg State University, an institution of the University System of Maryland.
In 2009, Nicole Sharp was selected for a USA National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab), where she assisted in the cleanroom construction of a detector for exotic hybrid mesons (mesons consisting of a quark, an antiquark, and a real [valence] gluon). In 2011, she was nominated and elected to the office of Executive Vice President of the Young Democrats of Maryland LGBT Caucus, responsible for the political advocacy of LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, allied, et al) Democrats in the State of Maryland under the age of thirty-five (35). Other experiences while a student at Frostburg State University include deejaying at the campus radio station, taking dance classes, writing for the campus newspaper, and working with an atomic force microscope at the university nanotechnology laboratory.
Nicole Sharp's personal interests include human rights, history, science, information technology, writing, photography, and music.
