License for Nicole Sharp's Website

Unless otherwise noted, content on Nicole Sharp’s Website and NikkiWiki is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Creative Commons

You do not need permission to download, print, copy, share, edit, modify, or redistribute any content published under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license, as long as you do so within the terms of the license.

The requirements of CC BY-SA 4.0 are that:

1. you must always copy, share, or redistribute the content under the same Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License (you cannot relicense the content with a different license);
2. you must also license all modified or derivative works under the same Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License;
3. you must indicate if you have made any changes to the original work if publishing a modified or derivative work; and
4. you must provide attribution to the original author, including for any modified or derivative works.

Works by Nicole Sharp can be attributed as "Nicole Sharp (NicoleSharp.net)" or equivalent.  Please make sure to include the weblink.  "Nicole Sharp (NicoleSharp.net)" is what I personally use for Canon Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) Copyright.

If you are sharing a photograph, video, or other nontextual work licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0, you are still required to indicate the authorship (Attribution) and license (ShareAlike) of the work and if you have made any changes to the original work.

Creative Commons printing

For printing out a photograph or other work by Nicole Sharp licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0, simply write in the margin or on the back: "NicoleSharp.net, CC BY-SA 4" or equivalent.  If you ("X") have made any changes to the work before printing it, you must indicate this with a note on the printed photo or document, for example as "NicoleSharp.net, CC BY-SA 4, modified by X".  Cropping a photograph counts as creating a derivative work since a crop or vignette can change how the work is viewed/perceived.

Creative Commons copying

For downloading, copying, or redistributing a digital work by Nicole Sharp licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0 with an original filename of "IMG_0001.png", you must do one of the following:

• rename the file as "IMG_0001-CC_BY-SA_4-nicolesharp.net.png" or equivalent (the extra period is permitted by most operating systems);
• add a sidecar text file of "IMG_0001.txt" with the attribution, license, and a note if any modifications have been made; or
• add a single file such as "readme.txt" that will provide the attribution(s), license(s), and modification note(s) for multiple files contained within a particular directory.

Remember that you must also indicate if you have made any changes to the original work.  For the above example, you ("X") can rename an edited video file as "IMG_0001-edited_by_X-CC_BY-SA_4-nicolesharp.net.png."

Creative Commons sharing

When sharing content licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0 on social media, you must still provide the attribution, license, and a note if you have modified the original work.  If you are unable to attach a description or caption to the social media post, then you must add this information as a post comment.  If neither captioning nor commenting is possible, then create a second social media post to provide the attribution, license, and any modification notes about the previous social media post.

Free Cultural Work

Nicole Sharp’s Website and NikkiWiki are Free Cultural Works.  Free Cultural Works are works licensed under a Free Culture License such as Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike.
